Simple Steps if you are not signed in as a member

• Enter Meds to a Basic Medlist

• Check Meds-Conditions (only for a patient)
• Identify Problem Meds
• Simulate Impact of an Alternate
• Use the Save As link to create a membership or sign in and save your medlist.
  

Use the Selected: drop down menu and click the New link next Basic Medlist.

• Basic Medlist - for quick checks

Basic Medlists are for quick checks. They are lists of Medications only. You can quickly enter the Meds and immediately check the Risk Maps for Side Effects and Interactions.

A Medlist can be a Compare list where you could list each Med for your skin rash that has been recommended to you from doctors and friends and then review how they compare to one another to choose the best one for you.

Or a Medlist can be a Combine list where you could list all the Meds you typically take when you have Hayfever so you can see the Combined Risk from taking them together.


Basic Medlists do not have to be named before you can start using them. When you are signed in, Basic Medlists or their individual Meds can be saved to Patient Med Cabinets or to Reference Folders/Medlists.

Just start typing in the box. As you add letters the drop down list will show you the Meds that contain those letters.

Use your mouse or down arrow to select a Med from the list.

If the letters turn red then they cannot be found and you should check the spelling or try entering fewer letters.

Prescription Drugs, Over the Counter Drugs,, Immunizations and many Medicinal Herbs and Supplements including Vitamins and Minerals

If you aren't sure of the spelling try just entering a few letters and then select from the list. Be sure to wait a few seconds for the list to show up.

Click the Info icon near the Med name to see the Drug Information Sheet - similar to what the pharmacist gives you, complete with:

• How to Use the Med
• The Med's Side Effects Risk Map
• Brand Names it is sold by
• Precautions
• Side Effects
• Interactions
• Contraindications and Precautions

This controls the Allcolumn in the Side Effects Risk Map section.
Select Combine Meds to view the combined side effect risk for all the meds a person is taking.
Select Compare Meds to compare the side effect risks of various meds for a given condition.

Rollover the Edit link to the left of the Med Name in a Medlist or Med Cabinet or under the Med Name at the top of the Med column in a Risk Map.

Simulate Impact of an Alternate*

Choose one of the options to evaluate "What-If?" scenarios, then view the changes to the Risk Maps.

• Based on Condition - Lets you select a Condition and then shows you other Meds that are typically used to treat that Condition. You can choose from Conditions the original Med is being used to Treat (if in a Med Cabinet), select from Conditions the Med is typically used for or Search all Conditions to find one more appropriate.
• Based on Theraputic Class - Medications in the same Therapeutic Class are very similar to one another but can cause different side-effects.
• Search - This behaves differently than Add Med by Name by providing a search box and bringing back a list of matching Meds that you can select from. You can limit the choices to Show Only Meds that are Generic, Brand Name, Prescription, or Over the Counter.

To save a medlist, you must be signed in as a member first. Use a link in the Save As rollover to Sign In or to Create an Account. When you are signed in the Medlist you have been working on will be available and you can use Save As to save your Basic Medlist to an existing or new Patient Med Cabinet or to a Reference Folder/Medlist.

Rollover the Edit link and click on Delete this Med. In a Basic Medlist it will be removed immediately. In a Reference Medlist, it will be marked as deleted and removed from the Maps.

When you are signed in as a member you can:

Save Patient Med Cabinets:
You can create a Med Cabinet for each family member. This provides a history of Meds, why they were used, and the ability to easily see how Meds you or your doctor are considering will work with your other Meds.

When you enter their Meds and the Conditions each Med is Treating you can see a new Map - the Contraindications Risk Map which shows which Meds should not be used with the patient's conditions.

Save Reference Folders/Medlists which are like Basic Medlists but can be saved. Multiple Medlists can be grouped into Reference Folders so if you just want to do some research on Meds for Diabetes, for instance, you can create a Reference Folder and name it "Allergy Remedies" and within it create Medlists called: Skin Rash, Hayfever, and Peanuts. .

Retrieve your Meds from one of our partners, including Microsoft HealthVault. With a HealthVault membership you may be able to retrieve your medications from your pharmacy and from then import those Meds into your Patient Med Cabient.

Basic Medlists are still available for quick checks and can be saved to Patient Med Cabinets or to Reference Medlists.
