Where is Help?
Use the Help link at the top right of the Medication Risk Maps for a menu of Help items. Toggle the Hints from the Help menu to show or hide them on the right side of every screen. They will provide context sensitive help to guide you through every action. Toggle the 7 Steps to Safety from the Help menu; they will appear at the top of Medication Risk Maps and provide a reminder of the 7 Steps. See it in Action shows a video of Medication Risk Maps integrated into the SMART Reference EMR Apps container. SURVEYOR Health won an honorable mention from the ONC for this. This is the easiest way to see Medication Risk Maps in use. Click the How It Works link for a more detailed conceptual understanding of how to use the Maps. On the left side of that page or from the Help menu you can access more details including: 7 Steps to Safety which expands on the steps. First Question First gives some examples of questions you can answer using Medication Risk Maps. Side Effects and Interactions explains more detail about what these terms mean and the very important concept of Combined Risk. What are Med Risk Maps provides another short version of what you can do here. To "play" with some Med Risk Maps select an example from the Selected drop down. For some commentary on the example, be sure you have Hints toggled to show.
How should I use Hints?
Hints on the right side of every screen guide you through every action. The questions that are answered under a hint heading will change depending on where you are and what you are doing. So if you opened a hint section before, you may still want to open it again if you are trying something different. The hints will walk you through every process. You can hide or show all hints by using the Help menu.

How do I enter Medications?
Just start typing in the box. As you add letters the drop down list will show you the Meds that contain those letters. Use your mouse or down arrow to select a Med from the list. If the letters turn red then they cannot be found and you should check the spelling or try entering fewer letters. Or try using the Advanced Medication Search link.
What types of Meds can I enter?
Prescription Drugs, Over the Counter Drugs, Immunizations and many Medicinal Herbs and Supplements including Vitamins and Minerals. Most illegal drugs are not available.
What if I can't find my Med?
If you aren't sure of the spelling try just entering a few letters and then select from the list. Be sure to wait a few seconds for the list to show up. Or use the Advanced Med Search link.
How does Advanced Med Search work?
Search for the name of a medication including prescription drugs, over the counter drugs, herbs, or supplements including vitamin, and minerals. If you are not sure of the spelling, enter just the first few letters then look through the list. If you are sure of the spelling you can enter the complete medication name. See your Search Results: After you enter your search term, hit enter or click the search icon to see the Alternate Medications that match your search. You can click Next below the list to page through the search results.

What is a Basic Medlist?
Basic Medlists are for quick checks. They are lists of Medications only. You can quickly enter the Meds and immediately check the Risk Maps for Side Effects and Interactions.A Medlist can be a Compare list where you could list each Med for your skin rash that has been recommended to you from doctors and friends and then review how they compare to one another to choose the best one for you. Or a Medlist can be a Combine list where you could list all the Meds the patient typically takes when they have Hayfever so you can see the Combined Risk from taking them together..Basic Medlists do not have to be named before you can start using them. When you are signed in, Basic Medlists or their individual Meds can be saved to Patient Med Cabinets or to Reference Folders/Medlists.
What does selecting Compare Meds or Combine Meds do?
This controls the Combined Risk column in the Risk Maps. Select Combine Meds to view the combined side effect risk for all the Meds a person is taking. This is a way to view a regimen without creating or assigning it to a patient. This type of Medlist can be viewed in either the Results or Deltas views. You can set Map it! for both the Before and Results sections. Select Compare Meds to compare the side effect risks of various Meds for a given condition. In this case the Combined Risk column will not show and you can only use the Results view and can only set Map it! for the Resultsview.
