SURVEYOR Health is a winner in
ONC's SMArt App Challenge

Edward Tufte judges
Medication Risk Maps and finds them worthy

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – June 22, 2011 – SURVEYOR Health wins Honorable Mention in the SMArt Health App Challenge.

See the submission video showing Medication Risk Maps in the ONC SMArt Platform at http://challenge.gov/challenges/134/submissions/3067-medication-risk-maps-for-smart.

The company is extremely pleased to receive this award, especially since one of their judges was none other than Edward Tufte, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Statistics, and Computer Science at Yale University. Tufte is an expert in the presentation of informational graphics, information design and visual literacy, all of which deal with the visual communication of information. He is the author of the seminal book on information visualization, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information.

The interface to Medicaton Risk Maps is intended to be visually rich and easy to understand at a glance. It has been lauded by its users and it is gratifying to be recognized by the expert in the field.

From the SMArt site:

SMArt (Subsitutable Medical Apps, reusable technologies) is a project funded by The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology through the Strategic Health IT Advanced Research Projects (SHARP) program.

As announced by US Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra on November 9, 2010, during his mHealth Summit keynote address with Bill Gates, SMART seeks to recruit and support a new generation of innovators by providing a common interface to multiple HIT platforms. The SMART Health App $5,000 Challenge is to develop web apps that use the SMART API to provide value to patients, providers, researchers, and public health. Examples of such applications are medication management tools, health risk detectors, and e-prescribing applications.
